COMMUNITY / UNPRODUCED CAMPAIGN
TEXT WITH HART
Community was built around a powerful proposition: giving people a direct way to connect with the individuals they follow. But that promise also created a challenge, how do you make people believe they're actually communicating with the person behind the number?
Text With Hart was a campaign concept I developed as a potential soft launch for Kevin Hart on Community, designed to turn that question into the campaign itself.

The Opportunity

AI-ASSISTED CONCEPT VISUALIZATION
Generative AI was used to visualize the proposed campaign experience. The campaign was not produced.

The Concept
The idea was simple: give Kevin two hours in a hidden location to personally respond to fans texting his Community number.
Meanwhile, a street team would approach people and ask a surprising question:
“Would you like to text Kevin Hart?”
We would capture the interaction from both sides, Kevin responding in real time and fans reacting as they realized they were actually communicating with him. If someone questioned whether it was really Kevin, he could respond with a spontaneous photo or short video.
Selected participants could then be surprised again by being taken to meet Kevin and capture the final reveal.
Strategic Rationale
The activation was designed to accomplish more than introduce a phone number. It would turn Community's core product promise into something people could see happening in real life.
Real conversations would create real reactions. Those reactions would become social proof. Participants could naturally share their experiences and Kevin's number, extending the campaign beyond the original activation.
A relatively small number of interactions could generate a larger ecosystem of content: a hero video, reaction footage, short-form social clips, photography, behind-the-scenes material, and organic user-generated posts.
Most importantly, the campaign could establish a repeatable launch model for future Community leaders.

Why it didn't launch
The concept was developed just before COVID-19 brought in-person activations to a halt.
The spontaneous, face-to-face interaction was essential to the idea. Rather than adapt it into a digital experience that would have lost what made the concept special, we chose not to move forward.
The campaign remained an unproduced concept, but demonstrates the strategic thinking behind how Community could turn a product interaction into a cultural moment.
